Korean pop star Kim Hyun Joong wasn't able to contain appreciation for his Filipino fans, showering him with an even warmer welcome during his second visit in the Philippines.
In his August 25 press conference held in EDSA Shangri-La and hosted by MYX VJ Bianca Roque, he said, "Thank you for the love heading towards me. I'll be trying (to include the) Philippines in my December Asian tour. I would try to come up with better songs and better performances,"
Kim Hyun Joong previously visited the Philippines in July 2010 for a benefit concert with B2ST. Now on his own, he returned to the Philippines to promote his debut mini-album entitled Break Down.
Kim Hyun Joong's mini-album has six songs. He said the title track, "Break Down," is his favorite and his best song so far. The other songs are "Let Me Go," "Please," "Kiss Kiss," "Yes I Will," and an instrumental version of "Please."
"There were a lot of action moments while doing my job and I'm expecting more," he said when asked about going solo. His idol group, SS501 has garnered significant success in Asia with fans calling him the "Leader," Kim Hyun Joong's standout looks and performance with the group has given him the edge to take on his careed on his own. And it seems it wouldn't be hard for his TV and music heartthrob to make it even bigger because his "Triple S" fans and "Henecians" from all over the world are giving him their full support."
Being on his own also didn't matter to his Filipino fans. After all, Kim Hyun Joong became popular in the country for his character, Ji Hoo, in Boys Over Flowers, the Korean version of Taiwan's Meteor Garden and Japan's Hana Yori Dango. He also starred in another blockbuster drama, Playful Kiss, which has become one of the hottest Koreanovelas in the country.
Kim Hyun Joong is a style icon and has captured the hearts of everyone with his Manila ensemble, sporting blonde hair and an all-black suit. "I prefer an all-black outfit, calm and steady," he said. His statuesque physique earned him the title "Walking Statue," a masterpiece that has come to life.
Screaming fans, ages 5 to 75, filled TriNoma, where he held the High-Five Touch, the meet-and-greet event for the fans. Carrying banners, balloons, flowers, and various gifts, many of them lined up outside the mall as early as 6 a.m. for the 7 p.m. event just to meet him up-close and personal. In High-Five Touch, 500 lucky fans were selected to get-you guesses it-a high five from Kim Hyun Joong, But what was supposed to be simple high-fives with him turned into frenzy when some girls couldn't help but hug and kiss him. The jealous crowd screamed their hearts out but he still gave everyone warm smiles and waves.
The visit was short, but to Kim Hyun Joong and his fans, it was most definitely sweet.
